Precision Embryology

I am very pleased to see that Precision Embryology has been so warmly accepted in the clinic where I work.

Precision Embryology means today the adoption of all the latest IVF techniques to produce a treatment strategy more personalized with better timing of embryo transfer.

We have learnt so much over the last few years creating- better culture media to bathe the embryos; better ways of incubating the embryos ( non disturbance through mini-incubators); better embryo selection by the 24/7 surveillance videos following embryo development; better methods of cryo-storing embryos through vitrification providing us with an equal success rate if using frozen embryos; better success at producing viable blastocysts that we may better select cells to send for genetic analysis now that we have better next generation methods of genetic screening...

Now we can choose what to transfer with greater accuracy and when to transfer ( or delay) with greater accuracy involving the most precise methods of embryo selection.

Without it are all other forms " Crude embryology"?, ....well not quite. The increase of IVF success over the years has come primarily from the IVF Lab ( at the heart of the Clinic) and few would disagree that in the future all the new innovations will originate from the lab.........but its the " appliance of science" as they used to say in an old commercial, using all our methods to the full, that will make the difference! Every lab uses what they have available.

Precision Embryology 2.0 will arrive with more use of Deep learning.
Deep learning is an artificial intelligence approach that is modeled on how the brain works, which analyses information in increasing layers of complexity.
New algorithm will help embryologists maximize the chances of success for their patients in having a single healthy pregnancy

And one last thing ..let us not forget the new laboratory conditions that are thrusting us into the biotech arena creating a safer environment for those embryos.( watch this space).
